Making the most of Small Charity Week 2019!

This year marks the 10th birthday of Small Charity Week – it’s been a decade of massive change and challenge in the sector, but also huge opportunity and impact. We think you small charities are more amazing than ever, and we’re so excited to be celebrating with you this June.

Small Charity Week exists to champion and thank small charities for all the amazing work you do, so we invite you to make the most of all the resources and support available and not to shy away from shouting about your brilliant charity.

So, with the Week kicking off next Monday, here’s a roundup of all the ways you can get involved.

Monday: I ♥ Small Charities Day

I ♥ Small Charities Day, taking place on 17th June, is a day to raise awareness of the constant hard work of small charities across the UK. There are three competitions on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and you can win £150 in each competition. All entrants need to do is take a photo of themselves or your supporters and friends holding up a poster that reads: “I love (charity name) because (why they love them)”, and post to social media (see full details here).

We also invite you to help us launch the Week by scheduling this tweet for 9am on Monday 17th June:

#SmallCharityWeek starts today! Share to show your support for small charities across the UK #ILoveSmallCharities

Tuesday: Big Advice Day

We know that lots of you in small charities are wearing multiple hats and have very little support to help solve the challenges you encounter. Big Advice Day therefore offers you free advice sessions with volunteer expert advisors on anything small charity. All the spaces for our flagship event at City Hall are now booked up, but check out what else is happening around the country!

Wednesday: Policy Day

Small charities are the centre of Civil Society. It is important therefore that the voices of small charities are heard. To mark Policy Day 2019, a free drinks reception will be held at the Cabinet Offices’ exclusive Churchill Room on June 19th for Trustees and CEOs of smaller organisations with a specific focus on the social value act.

We’ll also be hosting an International Development Roundtable discussion for charities working overseas, on the topic of innovation in international development.

On this day we’ll also be launching our Trends report, looking back over the last 5 years of our Small Charity Index survey to see what’s been happening for small charities over this time.

Thursday: Fundraising Day

Fundraising Day is action packed this year on 20th June with a range of initiatives to help small charities engage with current and new supporters.

Kicking off the activities is the FSI’s Fundraising Conference offering small charities the opportunity to learn from experts at an all-day event in London for just £25 – a few spots remain so sign up now.

There are a host of competitions and chances to win big with our partners– check our website for more.

Friday: Small Charity Big Impact Day

We can’t wait to announce the winners of the FSI Small Charity Big Impact Awards – amazing charities who are punching above their weight in terms of the impact they have. You can watch their prize videos and join in celebrating the awesome impact small charities have.

Saturday: Celebration Day

Small Charity Week closes on the 22nd June with a day to celebrate small charities everywhere. Celebration Day is a great big thank you to small charities for all the effort they put in to make the world a better place. Download a pack to put on your own celebration event – if you register it on our website, we’ll share it far and wide!

It’s also a great opportunity to celebrate those friends, partners, volunteers and beneficiaries who are important to your charity. We’ve created a frame for you to celebrate them – just download it here, pop their photo or logo in, and share it on social media to give them a massive thanks.
